Welcome to the Features section of Bracknell Chess Club. Here, we present the unique and valuable aspects that differentiate us from the competition. Join us for our rapid play tournament every week starting at 7.30 pm. Games are played with thirty minutes each on a chess timer, following the normal rules of chess. Games will be ungraded. Fill in the application slip at the bottom of this note and hand it to Jon Lloyd.

Congratulation to David Roberts for winning the club championship for the 2nd year in a row.

This years tournament saw 17 players take part, with a total of 33 games played.

Final Table

Rules:- Play any club player once only. Games can be played at any time in the club. Toss a coin for colours. 30 mins each on the chess timer (minimum 20 mins each). Record results on this sheet or send results to infobracknellchessclub@btinternet.com. The winner of the tournament will be presented with the club trophy.
Bracknell Chess Club EJCOA Zonal for under- 12 to under – 8 years 18th May 2025
Bracknell Chess Club held their second EJCOA zonal at their club, the Hanworth Community Centre, Bracknell, for under – 12 to under – 8 – year - old juniors on May 18th 2025. 45 juniors of the 56 that signed up, took part. All entrants were awarded a medal and a trophy was presented to the winner. Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits were provided free of charge to parents, guardians and children who packed in to the bar area at the community centre. Fortunately, the weather held fair, so parents and children were able to also settle in the Community Hall garden. Chess puzzles were distributed with a medal given to the first two juniors with the correct answers.
Two juniors finished the tournament on 15 points from 5 games (1 point for playing, 1 point for a draw and 2 points for a win). The placings, decided on a tie break, are given below:

A special medal was also awarded to the first girl, Harriette Yeung who finished in overall 5th position.

Bracknell Chess Club held a EJCOA zonal at their club, the Hanworth Community Centre, Bracknell, for under – 12 to under – 8 – year - old juniors on March 2nd 2025. 34 juniors took part. All entrants were awarded a medal and a trophy was presented to the winner. Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits were provided free of charge to parents, guardians and children, all of which was served in the bar area of the community centre. Chess puzzles were also distributed with a medal given to the first two juniors with the correct answers.
All juniors were impeccably well-behaved and some very good chess was played throughout. Bracknell Chess Club are delighted to receive email testimonials from parents the following day:
